African Finfoot

“An uncommon resident found singly or in pairs along quite, tree-fringed rivers where it slowly swims with an unobtrusive low posture under overhanging branches. It is extremely shy and retiring, dashing into thick vegetation cover when disturbed. It seldom flies but is a very good runner. It is distinguished from ducks and cormorants by its bright orange feet, legs, and bill, speckled back and diagnostic white line running from its eye down its neck.”
